The HR/Recruitment Team is a varied department that handles:

  • Recruiting for roles across the country in our HMP Estates and Centres
  • Recruiting for our head office and support teams, and our tutors/trainers
  • Organising training for all staff
  • Full employee lifecycle


Gemma Wainwright, Group HR Business Partner

Gemma has worked in the HR arena for 14 years. Gemma joined Acorn Training in 2022, during her career Gemma has worked across a number of sectors including Skills, Justice, Employability, Social Housing, Charity sector and Car manufacturing. Gemma is responsible for the organisations People and Wellbeing Strategy and supporting the overarching strategic aims of the organisation.
Gemma holds CIPD level 7 assoc and is passionate about HR and the positive impact the department can have on business performance. Since joining Acorn Training, Gemma has led on a number of change projects, such as; the implementation of the Sage HR system, Westfield health and PinPoint all projects have had a positive impact on employee wellbeing.

Juliet Sanders, HR Administrator

Juliet has worked in HR for around 10 years and is Acorn’s HR Administrator, she joined us in July 2023. Juliet is a key member of the HR team and has since been dedicated to ensuring processes are followed, improving them as she goes! Juliet holds her CIPD level 3 and is keen to develop in the HR arena. Juliet works closely with managers in order to provide quality support for the full employee lifecycle from Recruitment to Leavers.
