Who am I?
I have worked in the further education and skills sector for over 20 years, following a decade in the automotive engineering industry.
I started my journey in further education in 2003 as an Advanced Practitioner and progressed to become the Programme Leader for Engineering in 2007. In this role, I oversaw a team of 18 academic staff and served over 650 learners annually, maintaining consistently high-performance standards.
From 2011, I have held senior positions in further education, culminating in my role as Vice Principal of Curriculum and Performance at Burton and South Derbyshire College. Here, I led efforts to excel in learning, teaching, and assessment quality, fostered valuable partnerships with local schools and employers, and provided responsive education and progression pathways.
In 2021, I transitioned to the Independent Training sector, broadening my expertise and in 2022 joined the Acorn Training team, overseeing apprenticeships, English and maths programmes, management information services, and quality assurance and improvement.
I am driven by a passion for creating career opportunities for all and ensuring accessible entry and progression pathways for learners.
